This stretch of the Turkish coastline is known as the Turkish Riviera or Turquoise Coast and stretches from Fethiye in the west right through to the Syrian border in the east. Without doubt one of the most beautiful stretches of coastline anywhere in the Mediterranean. The area from Fethiye to Kemer is known as Lycia and has Turkey's most dramatic coastline with mountains falling away into crystal clear seas. Summer temperatures average 30 - 40 c with a winter average of 15 c. Rainfall is mainly during the months from December to February.
The village of Hisaronu is located on a plateau 1,000 ft above sea level under mount Babadag (father mountain). All around there are magnificent views of pine clad mountains. During the summer months there is usually a cooling breeze coming up from the sea. Fethiye the main market town of the area is about 7 kms and the famous beach at Oludeniz is about 4 kms from the village. Rhodes is about 80 kms by sea from Fethiye The area around Fethiye is one of the most beautiful, offering a perfect mix of beach resorts, boat/gulet excursions and fantastic mountain scenery. From Fethiye the main road to Ovacik/Hisaronu, climbs up through pine-forest clad hills to the Ovacik/Hisaronu plateau at 1000ft above sea level.
